✺ Frequently asked questions ✺

  • Yes, anyone can learn how to draw with the right resources, regular practice and focus.

I am living proof that anyone can learn to draw because I do not have any natural talent.

A big part of why I make education for beginner artists is because learning how to draw was so transformative for me specifically because I didn't know how to do it naturally.

Ive seen tons of students go from barely being able to draw a circle to drawing full characters, you can be just like one of those students!

  • Any form of drawing tool will work with this course! If you prefer working on paper you can use paper, if you prefer working digitally you can work digitally.

The course covers core concepts that apply to all drawing.

I do recommend trying a sketchbook and pencil if you have that available to you but that's optional and purely personal preference.

  • There are so many factors involved in learning so there is no definitive answer to this question, but the sooner we start the more progress we can make!

Drawing is such a fun hobby that the process of learning and growing will be immensely satisfying.

You won't be worried about rushing to a destination as we get into the fun of this journey.

  • It is completely natural to feel nervous when learning anything new, that is what makes it worth it.

You feel nervous because you care and that is a great sign that you will find joy in the practice as you develop that love for the practice.

One question I like to ask myself is “what will my future self want me to do today?” and that helps me make better decisions. You can let the fear of trying new things keep you stuck or you can take that energy and use it to grow.

  • Drawing style is something that develops over long periods of time, for now I would recommend just focusing on what is interesting to you at this moment.

Taste and style changes overtime and spending too much time on it without actively drawing won't be a fruitful endeavor.

It is a continuous journey so don't expect to find a specific art style anytime soon. What fun would it be if we didn't get to explore and experiment along the way!

  • If improving is a high priority for you I would recommend doing deep drawing sessions without distractions. Ideally you want to do 20 to 60 minute sessions where your mind gets deep into the concepts you are learning.

Also make sure to take time to review your work and make corrections, take note of common mistakes that you make and work on improving those weaknesses.

But! Always remember that focusing on having fun will make this a more sustainable practice, finding joy will ultimately be what is rewarding.
